Defensive Driving/PIRP Course (Monthly Classes) - April 12th 2025 (One 6-Hour Session)
The Town of Macedon is now hosting monthly defensive driving classes!The Point & Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP) course is approved by the NYS DMV and is lead by certified instructors from the Macedon Police Department. WHEREAll classes (unless otherwise noted) will be held in the Macedon Community Room which is located in the northwest corner of the Macedon Library.COURSE COST$25TIME REQUIREDThe PIRP course takes six hours to complete.Classes will either be offered to be completed on:-A single Saturday with a lunch break. (We will not be providing lunch, you must bring or purchase your own.)-Split into 2 three-hour sessions on a Monday and Wednesday evening.See below for specific dates/times.BENEFITSBy completing the PIRP course you:-May be eligible to reduce as many as 4 points on your driving record. -Receive a yearly minimum 10% reduction in the base rate for your automobile and motorcycle liability and collision insurance premiums for three years.-Will refresh your driving knowledge with safe driving tips and an overview of today's vehicle and traffic laws.ELIGIBILITYYou DO NOT have to be a Macedon resident to take this course. Anyone with a valid NYS license can register.*POINT REDUCTION NOTE: Upon course completion the instructor will notify the DMV. The DMV computer will then automatically reduce your active point total by up to four points.*INSURANCE REDUCTION NOTE: You will a completion certificate in the mail within 45 days after you complete the course. You must present the certificate to your insurance company or agent within 90 days of course completion. ***ANY CLASS WITH FEWER THAN 4 REGISTRANTS WILL BE CANCELED.
