SWIM LEVEL INFORMATION
During registration you will be asked to determine which level you would like to sign up your child for. Please note, the level may change after some testing in the pool with instructors. Please review the below information about each level so that you can make your best determination.
Parent and Child – Designed for children 6-months to 3-years old. This is a great introduction for infants and young children to the pool environment. This class requires a parent to participate in the water activities with the child and includes introductory swimming skills and safety. Time: 8:30-9:00
Pre-School (Tot Deck) - Designed for children 3-5 years old and will also depend on the child’s water experience. Participants will be in water 18” deep and taken out of the ‘tot-deck’ by the instructor and instructor aides. Our goal is to acclimate a child into the water environment with an instructor away from the parent/caregiver. Time: 9:10-9:50, 10:00-10:40, 10:50-11:30
Introduction to Water Skills (Level 1) – Designed for the beginning swimmer to feel comfortable in and to enjoy the water safely. Fundamental water safety and skills focusing on fun is emphasized. Times: 9:10-9:50, 10:00-10:40, 10:50-11:30
Fundamental Skills (Level 2) – Designed for swimmers that are comfortable in the water but still need support from an instructor. Participants will learn basic swimming skills, back and front floats, coordination of arm and leg motion, rhythmic breathing as well as self-help and basic rescue skills. Times: 9:10-9:50, 10:00-10:40, 10:50-11:30
Stroke Development (Level 3) – Designed for swimmers to develop more swimming techniques. The primary focus is to coordinate the front crawl and back crawl, treading water, beginner diving and underwater swimming. Times: 9:10-9:50, 10:00-10:40, 10:50-11:30
Stroke Improvement (Level 4) – Designed for swimmers who enjoy being in the deep end while working on swimming skills. Level 4 focuses on perfecting previous strokes, learning side stroke, breaststroke, butterfly stroke and advancement in diving skills. Safety and rescue skills continue. Times: 9:10-9:50, 10:00-10:40, 10:50-11:30
Stroke Refinement (Level 5) – Designed for swimmers to build both confidence and endurance. Strokes are refined to allow fluidity of water movement and to experience swimming for longer distances. This level will expand on the previous levels of stroke mechanics while also introducing proper flip turns, strokes, surface dives, springboard diving and a continuation on safety skills. Times: 9:10-9:50, 10:00-10:40, 10:50-11:30
Level 6 – Designed for swimmers that are looking for something different. There are four areas that can be addressed during this level: Fitness Swimmer, Fundamentals of Diving, Lifeguard Readiness and Personal Water Safety. Participants along with the instructor will decide what areas will be addressed during the class. Times: 9:10-9:50, 10:00-10:40, 10:50-11:30
